Deana Pollard Sacks is from Gig Harbor, Washington, and received her high school diploma from Gig Harbor High School in 1982. She graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986, and received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California in 1989. After practicing law for several years, Professor Sacks returned to school and received her Master of Laws degree from the University of California, Berkeley in 1999. In 2000, Professor Sacks joined the faculty at the Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas, and is currently a professor of law. Her research has concentrated on constitutional and civil rights issues, particularly as they relate to children and adolescents. Professor Sacks has taught torts, constitutional law, property, law office management, and mediation and is licensed to practice law in California and Washington.
